We believe the first step in innovation is not to act, but to listen. We listen to comments and suggestions about our equipment and our competitors’ equipment. We ask questions and reflect on the answers to get to the heart of the issue. Ultimately, we translate all kinds of feedback into equipment enhancements and prototypes.
We can’t be sure that we’ve found the best solution until we’ve ruled out the ones that fall short. Not every idea makes its way to a prototype. Not every prototype makes its way onto the floor. Only the best ones do. At Matrix, we know we will try some things that just won’t work. If we succeed every time, we’re aiming too low.
At the end of the process is an equipment improvement or a new piece of equipment altogether. A standard-setting new treadmill. New training tools for speed and power. A cycle that revolutionizes the virtual training space. The list can go on and on — and it will — because Matrix remains dedicated to discovering new and better ways to meet our customers’ needs.
We knew that rowing had evolved in the 20 years since the launch of our original stationary rower, moving into circuits, cardio floors, specialized rowing classes and elite athletic training facilities. It was up to our design team to create a rower that served all these different activities without compromise.
We started developing our S-Drive Performance Trainer when we discovered that circuit training and athletic performance environments were looking for the same thing — a tool to help users take on the 30-second all-out sprints of HIIT. Find out how we created a new kind of training tool that’s intense, engaging and easy to get on and off in fast-paced training environments.
When we created Ultra Series, we challenged every assumption about what strength training equipment should look like, how it should work and what improvements were possible. The result was a collection that improves sightlines and the overall aesthetic of the weight room while redefining the strength training experience in exciting new ways.
Glute training has been around for a long time, and it’s only getting more popular as athletes strive to maximize their potential and club members work to transform their bodies. But glute training has never been as comfortable, accessible and effective as it is now thanks to our new design. Find out how we developed a smarter, more stable take on glute training.
Functional training has never been more popular, and nothing builds loyalty that last like group training. Connexus brings the two together in a flexible, accessible system that makes it easy to create the functional training system that works best for your facility. Find out how we fused the best of both worlds here.
We asked questions. We studied every aspect of the cycling experience. We experimented with a variety of designs. Despite the success we’d had co-developing indoor cycles in the past, we knew in our hearts that we could do better. In the end, we developed a line of training cycles that appeal to a wide range of users and breathe new life into cycling classes everywhere.
When an update to our collection of cardio equipment gave us a chance to explore all an LED console could — and should — be, we grabbed ahold of the possibility. But how could we create a more engaging display with little more than bright dots and a few buttons?
To make personal training more personal, we wanted a system that let trainers and members do it their way, with their favorite apps, devices and wearables at the center of it all. Today, Engage 360 let trainers interact with members 24/7 by assigning workouts, charting progress, checking nutrition, observing activities and more, redefining what personal training means and can do.
